Gluten Free and Milk Free Snack Bars

A couple of milk free and gluten free snack and meal bars came to my attention lately.  I still like Think Bars, especially the crisp ones.  And I seem to be over my initial sensitivity to all forms of milk.  However milk is still an issue for many people with Celiac, so that takes out a lot of otherwise safe snack options for people.  And people with an illness that requires special food must travel everywhere with a snack or two.  You never know when you will be stuck somewhere with no safe options.  So read on for a couple of new options I've tried lately.

The Classic

Go Macro about $30 for 12 bars, based on flavor choice:  https://www.amazon.com/GoMacro-MacroBar-Organic-Protein-Chocolate/dp/B0791WCX84/   This is certified vegan, meaning no milk, and has the bonus of being Organic as well as certified GF. They are a nice size, not shortchanging you by giving you a tiny bar.  It's been around for a long time and both Doug and I love it. One tip to know is that sometimes Amazon's warehouse conditions can be hard on them.  So we recommend you buy from GoMacro directly.  https://www.gomacro.com/shop/

The Newcomers

Mighty Sesame Tahini Bars  about $10 for 12 bars:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07M5VGXJ7   Certified GF, claims vegan.  If you need no cross contact with milk because of allergy, you should contact them.  They are very small snack size bars that will remind you of tahini based halvah.  I love halvah and was delighted by this.  Others may find it kind of "powdery." It breaks easily, so don't just toss it into a purse. Only 100 calories a piece.

Consider: https://www.amazon.com/PackIt-Snack-Bento-Storage-Container/dp/B07QF136XW/ It's way better than battering your emergency snacks in a purse or gym bag, and then not eating it because it's too weird and messy.

Rise Pea Protein Bars about $30 for 12 bars:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M7P6CG7   These are "real food" bars with very few ingredients, the price varies with flavor chosen.  They're verified to be non GMO (they have the butterfly icon) and are certified by NFC with something called Gluten Free Guard.  https://nfccertification.com/gluten-certification/  I haven't heard of that before.  But the facility where they are made is also gluten free.  They are a decent size bar just below 300 calories.  The flavor of the carob version is very much like Mounds candy bars.  I personally love carob but it didn't taste like carob tasted in the 1990s.  It's much closer to chocolate flavor.
